Renaissance Hotels & Resorts is looking to discover the next big filmmaker for the Youtube generation. The global hotel brand is challenging aspiring filmmakers to create short films about Renaissance that will be entered in an international advertising competition sponsored by MOFILM. Designed for use in the digital space, the film that best exemplifies the brand will be showcased at the Cannes Lions film festival hosted by Spike Lee June 21 – 27. Contestants have until June 8th to submit their videos on the MOFILM website.
“Giving aspiring creative individuals this type of opportunity to tell their story truly resonates with me,” said Spike Lee. “It’s such a unique collaboration of your everyday consumer along with major worldwide brands and focuses purely around what the individual would like to celebrate about these brands.”

Among the submitted videos, Renaissance will award prizes to the top three winners with the first place winner receiving a 7 day/6 night trip to a major film festival of their choice over the next year in
Paris, New York, London, Hollywood, Toronto, Miami or Sydney. The first place winner will also join Spike Lee at the Cannes Lions 2009 Advertising Festival held in the South of France the 21-27 of June where they will compete against the top films selected by the eleven other top brands participating in the MOFILM competition for the chance to win a festival grand prize of $12,000 and an apprenticeship with Spike Lee on his next film or ad project.
The MOFILM U12 competition brings together 12 of the world’s leading brands to offer creative’s all over the world the chance to develop branded communication via video in a competition designed to showcase global talent. Not only does the competition allow everyday individuals a unique opportunity to let their voices be heard, but also the chance to obtain visibility in front of top brands and an estimated 10 million video, internet and mobile viewers worldwide.
